US students battle for affirmative action

US supreme court decides whether to overturn Michigan ban on preferential college admissions to racial minorities.

However, by state law, they cannot give preferential admission to racial minorities.

In 2005, Michigan voters passed a resolution changing the state constitution to ban affirmative action.
