The former US mayor whose racketeering and extortion drove his city further into debt has been sentenced to 28 years in prison.
Kwame Kilpatrick told the judge he accepted responsibility for causing a great deal of hurt to the people of Detroit, in the US state of Michigan.
His sentence is one of the longest ever given to a city official.
