Thousands of refugees flee northern Mali
Refugees pour into neighbouring Mauritania where camps are already dangerously overcrowded.

Hundreds of thousands of Malians are now fleeing rebel-held areas in the north fearing backlash.
The UN expects as many as 700,000 civilians will be displaced by the fighting. Many will arrive in neighbouring Mauritania, where refugee camps are already dangerously overcrowded.
