Workers’ plight in focus at UK fashion week

Campaigners hope show that begins in London this week will turn spotlight on hazardous working conditions in industry.

Campaigners hope the London Fashion Week, which begins on Friday, will remind the British public of the often hazardous working conditions in clothes manufacturing units in other countries.

The event coincides with a meeting between Western retailers and unions over compensation for the victims of the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh nearly five months ago.
