Displaced Malians return home

Northern Mali now seen as safe enough place as France plans gradual troop withdrawal from the area.

Thousands of people who fled northern Mali when rebels seized power, now feel safe enough to return home.

Many have spent months in exile, pushed out last year when Tuaregs, seeking an independent state, joined with other armed groups to fight against the government.

France sent troops to help defeat the rebels in January, and is now planning a gradual withdrawal.
