China pushes new food safety measures

Tainted milk and mislabelled goods undermine trust of Chinese consumers towards its food industry.

China is adopting new measures starting on April 1 to restore confidence in its food safety standards.

For now though, it will only be implemented in the capital Beijing, but it is thought they will soon be applied nationally.

The level of distrust in China’s food supply can often be seen in the demand for overseas brands.
