HK artist seeks to redraw image of tattoos

Calligraphy used to help transform perception of tattoos to high art, rather than rebellious images.

Tattoos have long had a rebellious portrayal in many Asian countries, sometime symbolosing gang membership. 

Part of a movement thats trying to redraw its image in the region, one tattoo artist in Hong Kong is trying to elevate the skill to a new level of fine art.

The work of Joey Pang, the world’s only tattoo artist who is known to be professionally trained in Chinese caligraphy, is in such high demand that she has a customer waiting list of two years.
