Future of US-Afghan relations unclear
Commitment to US-Afghan partnership unspecified, as US troops are due to withdraw.

Thirty thousand American troops sent into Afghanistan to bolster the US effort there are due to be withdrawn by the end of the month.
Already, international troops in the country are moving into more of a training role, handing over security responsibilities to local Afghan National Army and police recruits.
As the withdrawal approaches, however, the Obama administration has not specified what the US commitment to its partnership with Afghanistan will be in the coming years.
