Pistorius races towards Olympic history
The moment of truth has arrived for South Africa’s blade runner who will become first amputee to compete at Olympics.

On Saturday, South Africa’s Oscar Pistorius will finally be on his way to making Olympic history by running in the 400-metre dash.
After years of legal action and a lifetime of training, Pistorius was able to fight a 2008 ruling that banned the amputee from competing in the games.
To get the ban overturned Pistorius had to prove the blades he ran on didn’t provide him any advantage over his able-bodied competitors.
Al Jazeera’s Andy Richardson reports from the Olympic Park, where he spoke to Pistorius ahead of Saturday’s race.
