Somalia’s president denies UN graft report

President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed tells Al Jazeera that charges of officials’ corruption are off-base.

President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed condemned a UN report accusing senior leaders of corruption in an interview with Al Jazeera.

The UN report alleged that seven out of every $10 donated to the transitional government had gone missing.

There are also accusations that Ahmed’s entourage tried to influence the selection committee vetting eligible parliamentarians.

Al Jazeera’s Nazanine Moshiri spoke to him in Mogadishu.
