Afghanistan forces brace for NATO departure

One of the main challenges facing Afghanistan’s army is the withdrawal of foreign forces scheduled for 2014.                           

In a military base in the province of Nimroz, the Afghan army says it carries out 70 per cent of the operations on its own now.

When coalition forces eventually leave the province in two or three months, they will leave behind them just a few small advisory teams.

NATO commanders are finding it difficult to help the Afghans create an efficient system that will keep the military well supplied.
