Massacre trial tests Philippines’ president

Three years into Aquino’s presidency, witnesses are killed and not a single conviction in massacre trial.

Prosecutors in the Philippines want more protection for witnesses of a massacre which resulted in the deaths of 58 people.

At least two people, who were due to give evidence at the trial of those accused of the Maguindanao killings, have been murdered.

At least 58 people were killed on November 23, 2009 in what is has become known as the Maguindanao massacre.

President Benigno Aquino says he will bring the killers to justice.
