Sudan police fire tear gas at protesters

Anti-government rallies intensify after Khartoum imposes austerity measures, including tax hikes.

Police have fired tear gas to disperse anti-government protesters in Sudan’s capital. 
 
The protests are the result of increasing anger at the government after Khartoum imposed tough austerity measures, including tax hikes and the removal of fuel subsidies.
