Designer drugs evading US law enforcement

Laboratories continually creating and altering powerful synthetic drugs to stay one step ahead of authorities.

While fighting one of its bloodiest illegal drug battles along the Mexican border, the US drug enforcement agency admits one of its biggest threats comes from domestic laboratories.  

Many designer drugs start as legal products, and scientists continually alter the chemical structures very slightly to keep one step ahead of law enforcement.

The designer drug called Bath Salts is getting a lot of attention, raising questions over how the government regulates synthetic drugs in the US.
