Drought-resistant seeds for Kenyan farmers

People across the Sahel are struggling to grow crops on parched soils.

In another corner of Africa, a drought-resistant seed is now on the market. Locally produced and distributed to farmers across eastern Kenya at a reasonable price, it promises good yield, early maturity and resistance to common diseases.

But the seeds are still to expensive for many ordinary farmers to afford, and instead they have been encouraged to use traditional methods.
