Calderon supporters losing faith in president
One month away from Mexico poll, many National Action Party supporters say they will not vote for incumbent.
Just a month before Mexicans cast their ballots, it would appear that current president Felipe Calderon’s party is likely to lose the presidency.
The most recent poll by national newspaper La Reforma places his National Action Party, the PAN, in third place.
Many former PAN partisans are disappointed with Calderon whom they say has not done enough to end corruption and abuse of power, nor worked toward the creation of jobs.
Nearly 10 per cent of Mexico’s GDP comes from the state of Jalisco and its wealthy business community is a key voting block for any candidate who wants to win the presidency.
Al Jazeera’s Rachel Levin reports from Jalisco.
