Syria unrest hits border trade with Turkey
Deteriorating relations between Turkey and Syria have severely reduced cross-border trade.

In 2010, cross-border trade between the Syria and Turkey was estimated at about $2.5bn.
However, the violence in Syria means that this has now dropped considerably.
One of the worst hit cities in Turkey is Hatay, a traditional hub for the country’s trade with the Middle East.
