Hopes rise for NATO’s Afghan supply routes
Pakistan expected to review closure decision after its president agrees to take part in summit on Afghanistan in the US.

A NATO air raid that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers in November led Pakistan to close its border with Afghanistan,
preventing the flow of US and NATO supplies across the border and further straining relations between the US and Pakistan.
Now Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari has said that he will go ahead with plans to attend a NATO summit on Afghanistan in Chicago, which opens on Sunday. This points towards a willingness by his government to reopen NATO supply routes into Afghanistan.
