‘Breakthrough’ drug hailed in HIV prevention

The drug Truvada may not be a cure for the HIV virus, but doctors have called it a major breakthrough in the fight against the spread of HIV and AIDS.
Clinical trials have shown that, if taken daily, men can reduce the chances of contracting the virus by 44 per cent.
An estimated 1.2 million people suffer from AIDS in the US, and advocacy groups say Truvada is a significant success in the battle against the disease.
