Russian church organises against rock band

Thousands gather to condemn band but most Russians do not want the group jailed for ‘attack’.

Thousands of Orthodox Christian worshippers have turned out in the Russian capital Moscow for a prayer to support the church in what it perceives to be an attack on its authority.

They refer to a confrontation involving Pussy Riot, a local punk rock band who took over the capital’s main cathedral to sing their songs in a political statement in February.
