Fuel prices in the US have doubled in the four years since President Barack Obama took office.

Some blame the president, but Obama has pointed the finger at speculators who he says are driving petrol prices up.

Without clear evidence of Wall Street foul play, however, some in Washington wonder if Obama’s blaming of investors is part of his election-year campaigning.
