Peruvian troops hunt for missing workers
Hundreds of soldiers deployed to jungle in bid to rescue 36 workers believed abducted by Shining Path.

Hundreds of soldiers continue to search for 36 abducted gas workers in the jungles of Peru, and the mountainous jungle region they disappeared from has been declared a state of emergency.
The government believes that the hostages were taken by fighters from the Shining Path rebel group, whose demands for weapons and money have been outright rejected.
