Threat of strike leads to UK petrol panic

Comments from UK officials, including Prime Minister David Cameron, have ignited a wave of petrol panic-buying in parts of the country.

Sales of petrol have risen by 81 per cent due to talk of a strike by fuel tank drivers.

The panic, which some critics say is unwarranted and premature, has led to police demanding petrol stations in some parts of southwest England be closed due to unmanageably long queues.

Al Jazeera’s Paul Brennan reports.
