UK co-operative prospers in recession

Ethics put before profits at one British business that aims to be fair to both buyers and suppliers.

Europe’s financial troubles have raised many questions about the economic systems which contributed to the crisis. 

As part of Al Jazeera’s series on co-operatives, Sonia Gallego reports on a grassroots movement in the north of England that provides an alternative.

Its goal: to provide fairness for both buyer and supplier. And since it opened 15 years ago, the store has turned out profits and fair business practices as well.
