Australia’s turtle ‘mercy missions’

Flooding has seen large numbers of sea reptiles dying along the country’s east coast.

Increasing numbers of turtles are dying in Australia. The deaths are believed to be the result of last year’s floods as well as bad land management that is affecting growth of sea grass that the turtles feed on.

As more and more turtles are found to be underweight – essentially starving – along the nation’s east coast, new clinics are opening up to help rehabilitate the reptiles.
