Canadians complain about US ‘hum’

Residents in border town complain about low frequency pulsing coming from industrial area across Detroit river.

Canadian frustration at US border ''hum''

For the past year, people in the Canadian town of Windsor, along the US border, have reported a low frequency pulsing they dubbed the ‘Windsor hum’.

They say the noise is coming from the Zug Island industrial area on other side of the Detroit river, in the United States.

Now locals are pushing for a solution using social media – a Facebook page with 900 members has been set up. One local politician is calling on the Canadian government to put pressure on the US to solve the problem – to fight what they see as noise pollution.

Al Jazeera’s Daniel Lak reports from Windsor.
