Yemen celebrates its year of protests

Ex-soldiers and activists join for anniversary parade, but Yemeni democracy remains distant.

Thousands of people have gathered in the Yemeni city of Taiz to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the nation’s anti-regime protest movement.

Although defected soldiers joined the celebrations, there is a growing sense that much more needs to be done to establish a true democracy.

Al Jazeera’s Hashem Ahelbarra reports from Taiz.
