Greece reflects on wildfire response

Al Jazeera revisits areas damaged by the 2007 fires, which left up to three percent of country’s surface area scorched.

A series of massive wildfires that hit southern Greece in 2007 devastated forests, olive groves and farmland.

An estimated three percent of the country’s surface area was scorched and hundreds of houses and buildings were destroyed.

Al Jazeera’s John Psaropoulos went to the town of Zacharo, in the southwestern Peloponnese, to revisit one of the most badly damaged areas.
