Call for global action to tackle Malaria

WHO calls for more funding and says fight against malaria isn’t reaching people who are most at risk.

Countries around the world need to do more to fight the spread of malaria, according a new report by the World Health Organisation [WHO].

The report says countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia are particularly at risk.

The disease affects about 200 million people and causes the death of about 600,000 each year – many of them children.

WHO has called for billions of dollars more to be invested every year.

Al Jazeera’s Dominic Kane reports.
