Virgin of Guadalupe draws millions of pilgrims

Mexico’s devout Catholics head to the capital to seek answers to prayers in visit to shrine of mystical icon.

Millions of pilgrims descend on Mexico City every year to visit the shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Some spend days walking – or crawling – from their home towns across Mexico to make the Catholic pilgrimage.

In a country ravaged by violence, poverty and crime, the virgin provides the gift for those in need of hope.
