Uganda oil bill stirs chaos in parliament

Critics say the bill gives too much control to the energy minister and a “corrupt” government.

Uganda’s parliament has seen unruly behaviour in the last week as politicians debated a controversial oil bill.

Critics say the bill gives too much control to the energy minister, Irene Muloni, and a government they say has a track record of corruption.

Oil was first discovered in the country 2006, but extraction has not started yet.
