High AIDS treatment costs blight Central Asia

Virus continues to spread in countries like Kazakhstan, where treatment costs are prohibitive.

Across the world, there have been significant strides in the fight against HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

New infections have fallen by half in 25 countries. However, in Central Asia figures are rising, with treatment programmes in the region more expensive than elsewhere in the world.
