Slowdown of country’s economy means consumers are pinching their rupees during the Hindu festival of lights.

India’s slowing economy is putting a damper on one of the most important festivals in the Hindu calendar.

Giving gifts has always been a big part of the five-day Diwali festival that began on Tuesday. But this year, Indian consumers are pinching their rupees.
