Tasmania eyes ‘Asian century’ dividend

Australian state looks to attract property buyers amid fast developing links between the two continents.

Julia Gillard, the Australian prime minister, has used the term the “Asian century” while launching her government’s ambitious plans to develop even closer ties between the two continents.

In the state of Tasmania, there are plans for over a thousand news homes, a language school and a sports complex to attract exclusively Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Thai buyers.

Al Jazeera’s Andrew Thomas reports from Hobart on how links are developing fast.
