Australian ‘misogyny’ redefined

Macquarie Dictionary changes word’s definition after a speech by the country’s prime minister goes viral.

A fiery speech by Australia’s prime minister, accusing her chief opponent of being a mysogynist, has prompted the country’s leading dictionary to redefine the word.

The Macquarie Dictionary now states that a misognynist is not just a “woman-hater”, but also someone who shows entrenched prejudice against women.

Its the latest development in a debate about sexism in Australia.
