Guantanamo Tunisians back home

Former detainees finally able to return home following country’s revolution, several years after their release.

Guantanamo Tunisians

It has been 10 years since the United States began operating the Guantanamo Bay detention centre in Cuba. The  facility was set up after the September 11 attacks in 2001 – and since then has been marred by controversy, as suspects remain in limbo without trial.

Several Tunisians held in Guantanamo were able to return to their country after the uprising that toppled the former president.

They were released several years ago, but the previous government did not allow them to return home.

Al Jazeera’s Nazanine Moshiri spoke to one of them in the capital, Tunis.
