Pakistan plant certified safe before disaster

Garment factory in Karachi where 300 workers died in fire, passed internationally recognised test recently.

An investigation into a deadly fire at a garment factory in the Pakistan’s commercial capital, Karachi, found that the plant passed an internationally recognised safety test just a few weeks ago.

The fire that engulfed the factory last week killed nearly 300 workers, many of them trapped behind locked exit doors.
