Charlie Hebdo defends Muhammad cartoons

French left-wing satire magazine editor tells Al Jazeera that he has right to insult religion.

In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera, the editor of the French magazine Charlie Hebdo has defended his decision to publish cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

Stephane Charbonnier told Al Jazeera his magazine has a problem, when it comes to Islam, by receiving an indignant or violent reaction.

He says nothing wrong has been done, and that his magazine has not infringed French law, as a publication has the right to use the freedom to run critical or satirical cartoons.
