Turkey’s Arabic-speaking Alawites, a minority Shia sect, say they are concerned about the increasingly sectarian tone of Syria’s uprising.
The group believes President Bashar al-Assad is trying to hold a tolerant, pluralist Syria together, and many of them are concerned about how minorities are being treated by the Syrian rebels.
They fear the consequences of the uprising on the Alawite community in Syria.
