Al-Shabab loses ground to rival armed groups

Al-Shabab, Somalia’s biggest armed anti-government group, is facing an increasing threat from other groups who are retaking towns in their southern stronghold.

The only change is that the new groups, which were once allied with al-Shabab, are willing to allow foreign aid agencies in.

But few Western aid agencies are willing to risk personally distributing aid here.

Al Jazeera’s Jane Ferguson travelled with one of the armed groups into territory they took from al-Shabab in April.
