As Pope Benedict XVI prepares to visit his homeland, many people in Germany say they find his trip to be irrelevant to them.

While he was given a grand welcome in mainly Catholic Bavaria when he visited five years ago, Thursday’s trip will focus on mainly Protestant areas where the reaction is less certain.
