Residents of the UK’s largest illegal traveller’s site, consisting of 51 structures housing 86 families, have won a temporary reprieve from eviction.

A judge at London’s High Court ruled that the measures that were to be taken by the local council to tear down Dale Farm, in eastern England, could go further than the terms of the enforcement notices.

Travellers won the court injunction pending a further High Court hearing on Friday.

The travellers, who were joined by activists supporting their cause, had set up barricades to stop the demolition of the site.
