A different side of Jackie Kennedy

Interviews recorded four months after JFK’s death reveal a tender, intelligent and, at times, gossipy woman.

Jackie Kennedy has long been considered the quiet and doting wife of the assassinated US president, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. She has a place in the hearts of many Americans.

A new book, which includes interviews recorded just four months after the assassination of her husband, introduces readers to a tender and intelligent woman.

But it also highlights her somewhat controversial opinions. Among her views published in the book are that civil rights leader Martin Luther King was a “phony” and that Indira Gandhi was a “pushy, horrible woman”.
