Spy murder haunts Anglo-Russian ties
Andrei Lugovoy, suspected in UK over death of an ex-KGB spy, says British intelligence was behind killing.
David Cameron is on a landmark visit to Russia, becoming the first British prime minister to visit Moscow in years.
Cameron will meet the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Vladimir Putin, the prime minister, with hopes to revamp economic and political ties.
But Andrei Lugovoy tells Al Jazeera that Britain’s mishandling of a 2006 murder of Alexander Litvinenko, a dissident ex-Russian spy who was poisoned in London, will continue to shadow chances for improvement in Anglo-Russian relations.
Lugovoy, a Russian MP who Britain wanted for extradition as the key suspect, says the blame for Litvinenko’s death is on the British intelligence service, not him.
