While most of the world had written off Niger as a failed state, Muammar Gaddafi pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into the west African country in development funds.
It explains why Gaddafi’s top lieutenants have been given asylum here and why the ousted leader may end up fleeing to Niger.
Reports say four more officers arrived in the country – bringing the tally of defectors this week to almost 20.
