Mubarak trial lawyers want more witnesses
Lawyers for both Mubarak and slain protesters have asked for dozens of officials to be brought to testify.

Lawyers for Mubarak, his sons and the other defendants, as well as those representing slain and injured protesters, have asked the court to subpoena dozens of generals and former high-ranking regime officials.
Lawyers for the plaintiffs want to question security force “snipers” about the orders they received, representatives from communications companies to determine why the internet and mobile phone networks were shut down, and other regime officials about discussions they had.
They also wan to subpoena phone records between Mubarak, his sons, and others in government.
Defense lawyers have called numerous military officers. Farid el-Deeb, Mubarak’s lawyer, seems to be preparing a line of inquiry that will shift responsibility for the violent crackdown on military officers, including some who sit on the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces that currently runs the country.
What follows is a partial list of former regime officials whom lawyers want to question in court:
Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi
Tantawi was defence minister under Mubarak and has retained the position since the uprising, though he now also serves as chairman of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, which has ultimate say in post-revolution affairs. Farid el-Deeb, Mubarak’s lawyer, has said that Tantawi and the military assumed control of security affairs beginning on January 28.
Omar Suleiman
Suleiman served for years as Mubarak’s intelligence chief and was appointed vice president just days before Mubarak stepped down. He also announced Mubarak’s resignation.
General Sami Enan
Chief of staff of the armed forces
Ahmed Nazif
Former prime minister and speaker of the lower house of parliament
Safwat el-Sherif
Former speaker of the upper house of parliament and secretary general of the ruling National Democratic Party
Ahmed Ezz
Businessman in the steel industry and former high-ranking MP with the National Democratic Party
Zakaria Azmi
Mubarak’s former chief of staff
Anas el-Fikki
Former information minister
Osama el-Sheikh
Former director of state television
Hatem el-Gabaly
Former minister of health
Atef Ebeid
Prime minister from 1999 to 2004 and former MP for National Democratic Party
Lawyers for the defendants also want to question high-ranking members of the security forces. They include, but are not limited to:
General Foued Muhammad Tawfiq
General Zakaria el-Iraqi
General Abdelaziz Salem
Brigadier Nabil Radwan
Brigadier Hany Naguib
Brigadier Muhammad Ali
Brigadier Zakaria Higazi
Colonel Ayman el-Sayidi
