Disputed islets stoke Far East tensions
A rocky outcrop claimed by both Japan and South Korea remains a source of bitter contention.

Tensions between South Korea and Japan rose to the fore earlier this month when three Japanese politicians were denied entry into Seoul’s Gimpo airport for trying to visit disputed islets.
South Koreans refer to them as Dokdo and the Japanese call them Takeshima – the pair of remote rocky outcrops located far out at sea between the two countries.
