Qatar to the rescue of Spix’s Macaw
Nature reserve hopes to stop rare Brazilian bird from becoming extinct.

Spix’s Macaw is one of the world’s most endangered species. But Brazilian bird may well be on its way back from the brink of extinction.
At the Al Wabra Wildlife Preservation reserve in Qatar, conservationists have been able to help save this species, which was last seen in the wild 11 years ago.
There are a total of 86 captive Spix’s Macaws in the world, and 55 of them live at Al Wabra.
