Thirty years after the first case of AIDS was identified, there is still no cure.

The disease has been around since the 1950s but it was not officially classified an epidemic until 1981. Some estimates report 60 million have been infected and 25 million others have been killed.

Patients are forced to rely on drug cocktails for treatment, too expensive for millions of AIDS patients around the world – but there are signs of hope.
