Pakistan has experienced a wave of attacks since the killing of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in a US raid last month.
Peshawar, in the country’s northwest, has been one of the hardest hit. In the most recent incident, dozens of fighters attacked a police checkpoint just outside the city.
But the province’s police chief says despite the heavy casualties suffered by his force, his officers are determined to continue the fight.
